Just a thought Taj with the boards yes its nice seeing posters about whats going to be there but I wonder if perhaps you could see if local schools would like to decorate the panels (paint wise) with what Skegness means to them? could be part of SO Skegness festival maybe

I think the ones you're referring to Admin are the ones for the Royal Hotel etc?
They have been up for a long while I think. But yes, some 'coming soon' banners would be fab.

I would like to Challenge Tajbola at this point to please give us some realistic assessment of what will be the features that will be included in the new building.
He has put forward some speculative plans of what will be included if as he puts it funding is made available and I would like to believe that an ice rink/roller skating rink is a realistic proposition but I am still not convinced he is being totally open with the public, with building plans very near commencement I am sure he now must have a realistic plan of what Skegness is going to get, so how about it Taj, what will we get.

Hi Skeggy,
The plans are moving ahead for the detailed design, I think I should have a pretty accurate answer for you in about 4 weeks, maybe a little longer.
As you can imagine, I'd like to keep some of the features secret as it may take away some of the wow factor on opening.
But as soon as it's appropriate I'll update this forum.

Thank you Taj. wow factor is good, I was more concerned with the dissappointment that would be felt in the town if the plans came to nothing, so many are pinning there hopes on this Ice rink venture being successful

With so much going into the building, its taking alot of detailed planning, open spans for the Ice Rink etc, locations, sizes and so on.
In response to your question about the name, the building will be called the Skegness Skypier.

S47, if you go back to page 5, the size of the rink was discussed there, giving all the details you should need.

who authorised this Fair and when is building going to start? This is not what we want to see happening on the site. |
Apparently this is an illegal operation that has not been granted planning permission. The council have put a "stop notice" on this but it would appear that it is being ignored. As the council quite rightly point out the planning permission on the site says nothing about a temporary fairground type attraction. Other businesses in the area are not happy with this and quite rightly so. They have to pay their normal business taxes etc. and this is not the case with the cowboy operation.
I am not sure what Taj is actually trying to do here. I thought from his previous posts that the only thing he was waiting for, before beginning building, was planning permission which he has now got and has had for some time. Temporary fairground attractions are not what is needed on that site, a new building is.

Cowboy operation ????
Thay are trying to make a living, and judging by the visitors reaction it is proving very popular.
Some people in Skeg do not like a bit of compatition, that is what all of the fuss is about..
